Festival dedicated to the promotion of reuse and recycling in the arts, from visual art to designer objects, fashion, architecture, film, music, and performance with the aim of creating awareness in its varied public of the necessity of waste reduction and responsible consumption.
Drap-Art’15. International Festival of Recycling Art of Catalonia will be open to the public from the 18th December 2015 to the 3rd January, 2016, at the CCCB and nearby public spaces, with a previous opening on the 17th December. The activities and the fairs will take place on the weekends of Xmas (18th, 19th and 20th December) and Three Kings (2nd and 3rd January).
Drap-Art’15 will be developed in eight modalities to show us the possibilities of creative recycling: group exhibitions of art and designer objects made from recyclable materials, interventions in public space made from trash, a space for thought and discussion on environment, sustainability, garbage disposal, and waste management, the traditional art & design market of objects created from residual materials, creative recycling workshops, performances, audiovisuals and environmental cinema.
Drap-Art’15 looks for a balance between the participation of national and international artists; between emerging and consolidated artists, in order to promote the interchange between countries and generations. For this reason, as well as the artists, musicians, workshop conductors, designers, conference holders and audiovisual creators selected by the open call for artists, the festival will include the participation of invited artists, selected in collaboration with specialised organisations, galleries and independent curators.
As a special incentive, Drap-Art’15 will include for the 9th year running the Residu’Art Award, awarded by the HERA group, in the categories “Emerging Artist” and “Professional Artist”.
Drap-Art’15 is expected to receive about 10.000 visitors and to invite more than 150 artists, musicians, workshop conductors, designers, conference holders and audiovisual creators.
The call for artists is now open, until the 18th September.
