Organised by "The Festival a state of the World ... and Cinema" (13-22 November) offers film screenings and debates on climate issues to go alongside the anticipated Climate Conference in 2015 Paris.
All films are presented by a specialist in the topics discussed.
Forget, for a moment, the apocalyptic movies that depict the world as a disaster, and rather try and see it with regards to the vital areas that have always been at the heart of its survival and its development: its quest for food, energy control for heating and lighting, its means of movement and communication.
Climate change can occur in sound and fury (Beasts of the Southern Wild), but day by day, he reads more into the movement of a wind turbine that turns on (The Light Thief) comparing a divot in the framework of organic farming or cultivated with pesticide (natural resistance), the path step by step between a producer of Normandy and a factory in China (Rain or Shine). Cinema is always there to remind us of the persistence of human ambition to always want to produce more energy (There Will Be Blood); to dispose of common goods such as forest or land (The Land of the red men) and that whether we become part of the ongoing movement, or to stay in the margins is ultimately a choice.
THE GEO-CLIMATE Apéros
In addition to the films presented, architects, agronomists and politician will scrutinise business actions to help understand how to fight against those who block actions aiming at positive climate change. Journalists with various economic backgrounds will be animating each evening with their views regarding the climate for aperitifs. Guests are also invited to talk freely with the public and offer their views. Positive, playful, and collective will be the three key words of these meetings. Located in a friendly, free area, these meetings act like the fabric holding the festival together in-between screenings.
At happy hour, every evening, the passionate and generous booksellers of Atout-Livre reccommend novels and comic books alongside the program.
In the Halles district, which was formerly occupied by a market gigantic, we are driven to find alternative ways to buy directly from the growers! This will take place on the 1st and 2nd district; the AMAP Rouge tomate (association for maintenance of peasant agriculture) has to offer its products at the "Forum des Images", during the festival.
Other local initiatives include "Repair Café Paris" with its tools to repair your defective devices.
