This years Art Jumble will be held in Rio de Janeiro.
For 24 hours, 100 artists and designers will create original pieces made from recycled materials, which are then sold at accessible prices.
This live, playful and participatory event devises a fun local solution to a global problem.
Anchored in France and Belgium for many years, the clearance sales of art are like sponges, sucking society trends: recycling, eco-design, do-it yourself. The first edition in Rio de Janeiro echoes the tradition of "catadores" (waste hunters), with the complicity of artists that have adopted the way of "upcycling".
These artists engage processors set as the objectives of Lima: "Program on Gender," "Education and Awareness-raising" public awareness around the recycling and recovery. The clearance sales of art are shares shorted, combining urban civic commitment for sustainable development, social inclusion and the fight against poverty.
The organization of the Art Fair in Rio, in the context of the COP 21 will give the public the opportunity to discover a new art form and transformation of our objects of everyday life. Performances, lectures, workshops, throughout the event, school children, students and adults will be invited to live creative experiences for acting on climate both artistically, locally and sustainably.
