The Factory Mechanicals perform staged readings of hot new plays about climate change and global warming, in partnership with York University and the Playback Theatre Collective, as part of Climate Change Theatre Action to contribute to the vibrant artistic dialogue about our changing planet.

Factory Theatre is thrilled to participate in Climate Change Theatre Action, featuring readings of hot new plays by the Factory Mechanicals, our early career actor training program under the direction of Associate Artistic Director Nigel Shawn Williams. Come and join us in our Rehearsal Hall for readings of Elaine Avila's PORTUGUESE TOMATO, Chantal Bilodeau's MOTHER, Colleen Murphy's I SCREAM BACKWARDS, Elyne Quan's CUISINE, and Caridad Svich's CATHEDRA, followed by an interactive performance from the Playback Theatre Collective and discussions with sustainable design students from York University's Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. Following the readings, please join us for conversation and a cash bar to talk about how artists can contribute to the crucial dialogue surrounding global climate change.
