Lady Jane Gray and Ali McQuail cordially invite you to our exciting exhibition at Frametec - Harborne Gallery, Harborne, Birmingham - It's All About The Hens! A colourful and educational event suitable for all the family. Sponsored by Judy Dyke Tyndallwoods Solicitors.

Jane works from her home studio in Upton Towans Cornwall and gains inspiration for her work from her much-loved pet hens.

“I have two passions in life; our planet and the beautiful creatures that live on it, in particular hens. So I up-cycle material that would otherwise have gone to landfill to create humorous pieces of chicken-themed art. However my art has a serious message. I am trying to raise awareness of the plight of commercially farmed hens and show that hens are friends not food.

A quote by Mary Hirsch sums up how I view the way I deliver this message: ‘Humour is a rubber sword – it allows you to make a point without drawing blood’.

For many years my up-cycled art has been very well received in St Ives by locals and visitors alike. It has proved so popular that one of the supporters of my work, Judy Dyke from Birmingham-based Tyndallwoods Solicitors, has arranged for me to have a two-month residency at the Harborne gallery in Birmingham.

I wish to inspire many viewers young and older to appreciate the colourful and interesting artwork that can be achieved with textiles destined for landfill. By intercepting and saving these fabrics I'm reducing landfill, reducing my own carbon footprint and raising awareness.

The show at Frametec, Harborne Gallery runs from 14 August to 10 October 2015.

I am extremely excited to be able to take my work and the message it carries to another part of the country. However, I cannot wait to return to Cornwall, in particular to my garden of beautiful hens. They are the inspiration for all that I do.”

Peter Frith will be hosting the event at Harbourne Gallery, Birmingham.
Judy Dyke of Tyndallwoods Solicitors, Harborne is our official sponsor for the exhibition.
