Mitos21, a network of some of the most prestigious national and public theatres in Europe, is launching a joint project for its members, with the aim to embed the principles of sustainability in the philosophy and management of cultural institutions.

In the process of building a joint “green” cultural project, mitos21 member-theatres have assigned their "green" managers with the task of researching, designing and implementing sustainable policies in their respective organisations.

The Paris meeting, organized by La Colline and mitos21, coincides with FOCUS festival, the showcase of contemporary French performing arts, which will attract theatre professionals from all over Europe.

A restricted number of festival guests will also be able to participate in the mitos21 “green” managers’ meeting, which will develop over two days, in the afternoon of Saturday 10th and the morning of Sunday 11th October.

The programme of the meeting, which will take place at La Colline, will include a presentation on sustainability and the policies of culture (delegation of the French Ministry of Culture), an overview of the global case for a “greener” creative sector (Alison Tickell, Julie’s Bicycle, UK), case-studies (Thierry Leonardi, Opera de Lyon & Didier Juillard, Theatre National La Colline), meetings with climate experts, members of the organizing team for COP21, as well as a session dedicated on exchange of information and expertise among participants.

The members of mitos21 are:
Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg / La Colline-Théâtre National, Paris / Deutsches Theater, Berlin / Dramaten, Stockholm / Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus / Katona József Szinház, Budapest / Det Kongelige Teater, Copenhagen / Narodowy Stary Teatr, Krakow / National Theatre, London / Schauspiel Frankfurt / Schauspielhaus Zürich / Teatre Lliure, Barcelona / Toneelgroep Amsterdam / Universität Mozarteum, Salzburg
