ACT TWO - Science Sustainability and Art est une combinaison de conférences, d'ateliers, de performances et d'installations artistiques réunissant des chercheurs et des artistes à l'université de Freiburg en Allemagne pour explorer les manières dont l'art peut être utilisé comme un outil pour la durabilité.
ACT TWO is the second edition of the "Science Sustainability and Art" series organised by the Freiburg Scientific Theatre.
The aim of the series is to uncover aspects of sustainability, such as sensory and emotional experiences, which are strengths of aesthetic enquiry but often neglected by traditional research frameworks.
Inspired by the upcoming COP21 negotiations, the focus of this autumn edition is Climate Change -and we don’t just want to talk about it, we want to act it out!
From using theatre as a research tool and science to create a photo-exhibition, to colectively creating a giant word-sculpture out of our thoughts on climate change and organising a role-play on climate conflicts, this November you’re warmly invited to come along to the Herderbau to discuss, feel and experience first-hand the innovative ways in which art can be used to make research truly transformative.
The Freiburg Scientific Theatre (FST) is a group of young sustainability experts from all around the world, that grew out of the renowned Masters of Environmental Governance Program at the University of Freiburg, Germany. They use theatre to promote and facilitate inter-cultural dialogue on sustainability, and aim to create a new level of communication that engages participants with the heart as well as the mind.
Since its inception in 2012, the FST has performed at many different events throughout Germany, including academic conferences, public festivals and government sustainability program launches. ACT TWO is the second edition of Science, Sustainability and Art series, organised by the Freiburg Scientific Theatre e.V. It is funded by an Innovation Fund grant designed to encourage inventive and original teaching methods, and hosted by the Chair of Environmental Governance at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, University of Freiburg.
