Venez nous aider à créer un patchwork géant pour sensibiliser les consciences face au changement climatique. Faites preuve de créativité avec des tissus, des crayons, de la peinture, de la colle et de la couture! Ou alors allez chercher une couverture et racontez son histoire !
The patchwork quilt symbolises the blanket effect of the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, as well as the collaboration required at all levels to adapt to, and mitigate any further devastating effects of, man-made climate change.
Making a patch gives you the opportunity to respond creatively to these issues in any way you want using a range of different media and styles. The project is open to anyone, any age, anywhere. There are plenty of ways to get involved:
- Make a patch on your own or with others. Anyone can make a patch – you do not need to be good at sewing. In fact, you do not need to sew anything. Full instructions are provided
- Participate in a patch-making workshop. We are running these locally in the north east of England. If interested, please get in touch
- Set up your own workshop / patch-making party. We can come to you if you live nearby, or support you remotely if further away
We are hand-stitching the patches together to form person-sized blankets. Each blanket is unique in terms of its contributors and messages. We plan to loan out the blankets to people experiencing the effects of climate change and/or involved in climate action. Anyone can apply to be a custodian of a blanket if they have an interesting story to tell and are prepared to document their experience. Please get in touch if you are interested.
Ultimately, the blankets will be sewn into a giant quilt, to bring together all of these experiences and form an important piece of social history.
